چکیده

It was reported that a mixed light metal oxide compound, 12CaO 7Al2O3 (C12A7), which is known as a constituent of aluminous cement, became a superconductor at an ambient pressure by the exclusive replacement of extra-framework oxygen ions in subnanometer-sized crystallographic cages with electrons. Temperature dependences of resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, and magnetic field dependent resistivity of single-crystals and thin films revealed superconducting transition at temperature (Tc) of 0:4K and a critical magnetic field of 30mT. Tc varies 0.2–0.4K with the electron concentration. The interaction of the anionic electrons in the free space (cages) with the cationic framework may be responsible for the emergence of the superconducting state. [doi:10.2320/matertrans.MBW200717]

Structure Property Relationships and Cationic Doping in [Ca24Al28O64]4+ Framework: A Review

Ca12Al14O33 (C12A7, 12CaO·7Al2O3, or [Ca12Al14O32]:O) is a material with a clathrate cage framework, positively charged and stabilized by anions occluded within 17% of the cages. The occluded anion is modular and can be elemental, polyatomic, and electronic in nature. This review focuses on the electride C12A7 ([Ca24Al28O64] :(4 ∗ ∂)e−(2− ∂)O2−), where O2− anions are replaced with electrons, an...

VUV and cathodoluminescence spectroscopy of 12CaO 7Al2O3

Reflection, photoand cathodoluminescence of 12CaO 7Al2O3 (C12A7) were investigated. Smooth features observed in VUV reflection spectrum of monocrystalline C12A7 evidence its complicated crystalline structure and lattice disorder. Two luminescence bands peaking at 4.9 and 3.35 eV were revealed in C12A7 ceramics having encaged electrons and O ions. The 4.9 eV emission has an excitation onset at 6...

Hopping versus bulk conductivity in transparent oxides: 12CaO·7Al2O3

First-principles calculations of the mayenite-based oxide, fCa12Al14O32gs2ed, reveal the mechanism responsible for its high conductivity. A detailed comparison of the electronic and optical properties of this material with those of the recently discovered transparent conducting oxide, H-doped UV-activated Ca12Al14O33, allowed us to conclude that the enhanced conductivity in fCa12Al14O32gs2ed is...

Electronic Structure and Light-Induced Conductivity of a Transparent Refractory Oxide

016408-1 Combined first-principles and experimental investigations reveal the underlying mechanism responsible for a drastic change of the conductivity (by 10 orders of magnitude) following hydrogen annealing and UV irradiation in a transparent oxide, 12CaO 7Al2O3, found by Hayashi et al. [Nature (London) 419, 462 (2002).] The charge transport associated with photoexcitation of an electron from...
